NAS Moves on Expelling Sexual Harassers

The National Academy of Sciences has started a voting process asking its members to allow sexual harassers to be expelled from their ranks. The move follows a major NAS report on sexual harassment and gender discrimination. In Issues, the report’s study director described the pervasive and pernicious ways in which sexual harassment harms researchers and the research environment, concluding that the research community must “start treating sexual harassment as a violation of responsible research conduct.”
