LEDs May Help Unlock Energy Innovation

LED light bulbs are steadily replacing older, less-efficient types of lights, thus reducing home electricity demand and thereby saving consumers money and cutting greenhouse gas emissions. And by doing so almost despite federal energy-efficiency regulations, an analyst recently explained in Issues, LEDs may illuminate a potential path around the “technological lock-in” that commonly favors mature clean energy technologies while blocking out innovative alternatives.
