Bezos v. Climate Change
February 19, 2020
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is committing $10 billion to combat climate change by supporting “any effort that offers a real possibility to help preserve and protect the natural world.” Sounds good, but will it actually encourage a robust response? Most other climate-focused philanthropic efforts have led to “group think” on solutions, a columnist in Issues recently argued, calling on funders to recognize “not only the need for a broader set of technological options, but also the need to build a broader political coalition that seeks out nontraditional allies and welcomes challenging ideas.”
