Administration Trying to Regulate Social Media

Soon after Twitter added a “potentially misleading” warning label to some of President Trump’s tweets, his administration called on the Federal Communications Commission to regulate leading internet platforms, claiming they censor conservative viewpoints. Critics say this hard-fisted approach is misguided. A sociologist recently argued in Issues that the public, through government, should in fact have a stronger hand in determining what social media can post, adding that a fruitful approach might include having the industry propose standards that the government would then review.
