Some Republicans Shifting on Climate Change

Some Republicans are reportedly warming to proposals to curb climate change, as long as they follow familiar “pro-growth, pro-economy” ideas such as using tax breaks to drive private-sector energy innovation and promoting social adaptation over limits on fossil fuel use or emissions. In Issues, a leading conservative scholar laid out a baseline for policies and actions that might fit the bill, noting that they must “be compatible with individual liberty and democratic institutions, and cannot rely on coercive or unaccountable bureaucratic administration.”
